Cast of “Trad in the West” Marie Walsh Eileen O’Malley From Rosmuc, Co. Galway, Eileen began playing the whistle from an early age under the tutelage of Noreen Sullivan. Eileen has taken part in Fleadh Cheoils all through the ages and is an All Ireland Champion whistle player. She also plays flute and banjo. Currently residing in Clifden, she is a national school teacher and is involved in the music scene in Clifden and surrounding areas and is also well known throughout the country. Ronan Canavan From Carna, the heart of the Gaeltacht region, Ronan is a fantastic young box player with great lift in his playing. Also a fine tin whistle and melodeon player, he is a fleadh winner in many ages. Ronan is involved in group arrangements also through the Tri Lasadh and West Coast groups which were All Ireland and Connaught Finalist Respectively. He is a participant in many sessions and festivals throughout the area and beyond. Conall Flaherty Coming from a musical family in Kilkerrin, Conall is another multi instrumentalist. He is a powerful and classy flute and whistle player, and a fleadh winner in many categories. Part also of the All Ireland Final group, Tri Lasadh and Connaught Champion group West Coast, he can be heard at many fleadhs and summer schools with his musical brothers and sister throughout the country. Emma O Sullivan Emma hails from north connemara and is the Current All Ireland Oireachtas Sean Nos Dance champion. She has a great unique style of Sean nos dance and adds great rhythm to the music. She was one of the Stars of this years All Ireland Talent Show on RTE and is in high demand locally and nationally as a Sean nos dance teacher and performer. She keeps herself very busy dancing at festivals throughout the country and is involved in several different shows and productions Maria Sheridan Maria hails from Galway City originally but has resided in Renvyle now for the past number of years. She also comes from a musical background with her family involved in music and dance. She is a fantastic singer with superb clarity in her voice and she brings a great lift to the show. Her piano accompaniment is lively and jazzy and adds greatly to the production. She is in high demand and is part of several shows and groups in the area. Doireann Sheridan Doireann is a superb Irish dancer, having taken part in several feis throughout the country. Trained by the Celine Hession school of dance, she has a great rhythmic style and her choreography is foot tapping and lively. She is parts of several other groups and is also a fine fiddle and piano player, just to mention a few. Daughter of Maria, you can see where the music comes from! Shauna Keaney Shauna is a great lively dancer. Coming from a musical background, she has great musicality in her feet. With a wide range of dances, she brings great arrangements and lift to the dance and works excellent with Doireann. She is also a fine fiddle player and this comes across in her fullness of steps Steven Coohill From Clifden, Steven has taken to Sean nos dance like a duck to water! Taught by Emma O Sullivan, there isn’t an event that Steven can be seen showcasing his rhythmic and lively Sean nos dance style.
